1826 Adare Named Bord Bia Just Ask Restaurant of the Month

Bord Bia have announced that their Just Ask Restaurant of the Month for June is 1826 Adare. The award winning restaurant was opened in 2013 by Chef Wade Murphy and his wife Elaine and they strive to combine traditional and modern styles while sourcing the best of local and seasonal produce. 1826 Adare is all about celebrating local producers through dishes that are considered ‘fine dining without the fuss’.

Now in its seventh year the Bord Bia Just Ask campaign has been fully embraced by the restaurant trade. The campaign encourages diners to question the provenance of the food they are being served and encourages chefs to profile their local suppliers on menus.

Wade explains their commitment to excellence: “As a Euro-toques chef, provenance and sourcing are hugely important to what we do. We include a statement on our menu confirming that all our beef, lamb, pork & chicken is born, reared & slaughtered in Ireland. Our valued suppliers are detailed on our menus and many of them are name checked on dishes too. Garret’s Butchers of Limerick supply us with our dry-aged steaks, Kerry Hill lamb and free range pork, while pasture reared chicken comes from The Friendly Farmer in Athenry and our Skeaghanore duck comes from west Cork. Fresh fish and seafood are sourced from CS Fish in Doonbeg, Co. Clare, our vegetarian options include produce from Bally Salad & Clancy Lewis in Limerick and the famed Ballyhoura Mountain Mushrooms of Co. Cork.”
