I know what you’re thinking…Downton Abbey ended over a year ago. Why would I care about an evening based around the era of the show.
To that I say, why wouldn’t you? The early 1900’s are one of the greatest modern eras for music, clothes and all-round entertainment.
This October, dust off your finest gowns and black tie apparel and let Butler House Manager, Deirdre Keating, transport you back in time to the early 1900’s with a Downton Abbey themed, fine dining experience in the iconic Butler House and Gardens.
Given its grandeur, the stunning Kilkenny venue is perfectly poised for such an event. Put on your best Maggie Smith impression and whet your appetite with a heavenly cocktail on arrival, before enjoying some light entertainment throughout the evening.
Dinner will be served in the dining room, set with crisp white linens, candelabras and impeccably polished silverware, and glasses will be filled with deliciously fine wines.
During the evening, executive head chef Gerard Dunne will tantalize your taste buds with his bespoke and locally sourced five-course tasting menu.
The house will be filled with music and Downton décor, creating an elegant post-Edwardian-era atmosphere. So grab your gloves and jewellery and make sure Butler House is on your radar this autumn.
The Downton Abbey evening is taking place on Friday, October 26th as part of Savour Kilkenny. The drinks reception kicks off at 7pm, with dinner beginning at 7.30pm.
There’s limited availability for this exclusive event so the earlier you book, the better. Tickets are priced at €100 and you can book via Butler House reception or by phoning 056 772 2828.
