A new high-end bar will open its doors today in the basement of St. Stephen’s Green Hibernian member’s club. The place, named 9 Below, is the latest venture of renown publican Alan Clancy and the NoClan Group, which is behind a series of popular Dublin venues including 37 Dawson Street, House, Xico and The Oak, Mrs Robinson in Greystones, and The Fence in Mullingar.
According to the Irish Times, an investment of €800,000 went into 9 Below, and the venue will focus on a different concept of bar, with reservations-only guests and almost entirely based on table service.
While there’s no kitchen in the venue and therefore, no food made on the premises, they’ve teamed up with a supplier to offer sushi to visitors.
The drinks offering is expected to be as lavish as the bar’s opulent surroundings, with bottles of wines like Pétrus on the list as well as high end spirit such as Louis XIII Cognac (pictured below) or Casamigos Tequila, which made headlines last year thanks to George Clooney’s involvement with the brand. You’ll be able to enjoy cocktails made by expert bartenders, brought straight to your table with the personalised attention that characterises five star service.
Alan Clancy told the newspaper that the plan is to establish good relationships with the top hotels and restaurants in the area in the hopes of becoming the place of choice for pre or after dinner drinks.
Offering a bar experience as sumptuous as the accommodation and food offers neighbouring it, it comes to fill a gap in the market.
