Amuse – A diamond in the rough

The construction of a city wide Luas line has seen Dawson Street uprooted- literally. Hammering and pounding have become a part of life for local businesses, driving owners and customers alike crazy. This past July, Conor Dempsey (formerly head chef in DAX) opened Amuse Restaurant on Dawson Street, and this new addition is turning heads. Whatever doubts anyone may have had have been quickly squashed, as Amuse has received nothing but rave reviews from diners and critics.

Their style is simple. They’ve done away with the a la carte menu altogether. Amuse serve either a 5 or 7 course tasting menu, as well as a 2 or 3 course set menu. Their food is distinctly French, but with a lot of Asian influence. The menus may be small, but they showcase distinct flavours and an undeniable creativity on Dempsey’s part.

Despite the rocky ground it sits on, Amuse has clearly found a winning recipe. Quite literally, receiving naught but excellent reviews, Amuse is certainly the next place that should be on your list for an evening out in Dublin.
