On Saturday 18th of June, the world’s leading restaurants and spas gathered at the inaugural World Luxury Restaurant Awards™.
The ceremony was hosted at the stunning Grand Kronenhof Hotel in Pontresina, Switzerland where guests were welcomed with a Veuve Cliquot Champagne reception before sitting down to a luxury 6 course banquet.
Nearly 40 countries were represented on the night across 78 different categories. Awards were handed out for country, continental and global winners.
Aqua Restaurant in Howth was awarded the prestigious ‘Luxury Seafood Restaurant’ global award, seeing off competition from Arwana Restaurant in Indonesia and Bridges Restaurant from the Netherlands.
Aqua has been a seafood staple in Dublin since it opened on New Year’s Eve 1999. Located in the heart of renowned seafood village Howth, Aqua sits right at the end of the West Pier in the historical building that used to house the Yacht Club.
With a strong emphasis on top quality seafood, homegrown and local ingredients and the best views possible of Howth Bay, Aqua has long been a premium destination for seafood lovers.
The voting process took over 70,000 votes into account from travellers, guests, hospitality experts, tour operators and the general public. The overall winner was Jahn Restaurant from Conrad Hotel Koh Samui. The runner up was Danish restaurant Kokkeriet.
Edvard & Pink in the Dundrum Town Centre won two awards, Best Beauty Spa in Ireland and Best Beauty Salon in Europe.
