Are you Secretly like a Pinot Noir? Find Out and Celebrate Pinot Noir Day!

Today, 18th of August, we celebrate Pinot Noir Day. A grape famous for giving migraines to winemakers around the world due to its tricky and picky nature that only makes it thrive on very specific terroirs and climates.

As brilliantly said by Miles Raymond, the neurotic main character of classic wine lovers’ film Sideways (2004), Pinot Noir “it’s a hard grape to grow (…) it’s thin-skinned, temperamental, ripens early. It’s, you know, it’s not a survivor like Cabernet, which can just grow anywhere and uh, thrive even when it’s neglected. No, Pinot needs constant care and attention”

But in fairness, as he goes on, it also has its good side: “Only somebody who really takes the time to understand Pinot’s potential can then coax it into its fullest expression. Then, I mean, oh its flavors, they’re just the most haunting and brilliant and thrilling and subtle and… ancient on the planet.”

So, answer these questions and the more “YESES” you have, the more similar to Pinot Noir you are…

1. Do you get angry when you are too warm?

2. Are you very sensitive to extreme cold?

3. Do you hate to get caught in the rain?

4. Do you throw a tantrum if they make you wait?

5. Do you feel overwhelmed when you eat strong-flavoured foods?

5. Does the idea of being the centre of attention appeal to you?

6. Have you ever been called “dramatic”, “fussy” or “diva-like”?

7. Would you prefer delicate and floral teas over stronger ones?

8. Do you enjoy soft, jazzy music?

9. Would you consider yourself subtle when talking about delicate issues?

10. Do you secretly enjoy watching others stressed over you?

For every “YES” add 10% to your Pinot Noiresque score. More than 5 YESES? you might actually be a Pinot Noir! Now go and be the high-maintenance, awesome being your friends know and love.
