The 6th annual Malbec World Day takes place this year on April 17th. The theme for 2016 is ‘Celebrating a Classic‘ and hundreds of events will be taking place in 70 cities around the world. The festivities will include wine fairs, tastings and promotions in wine bars, shops and restaurants.
Here in Ireland, the Argentine Embassy will once again be hosting their press and trade wine fair in association with Wines of Argentina. On Monday April 11th, wine writers, journalists, restaurateurs and other retailers are invited to the Hilton Hotel on Charlemont Place to sample and learn about a whole range of Argentinian styles and regions. Press and trade representatives can attend the tasting in the Charlemont suite in the Hilton Hotel between 12pm and 6pm.
Participating wineries from Argentina include Achaval Ferrer, Alpamanta, Alta Vista, Andeluna Cellars, Bodega Argento, Belasco de Baquedano, Domaine Bousquet, Bodega Budeguer, Bodega Callia, Chakana, Catena Zapata, Dona Paula, Finca Las Moras, El Esteco, El Porvenir de Cafayate, Hess, Kaiken, Krontiras, Luigi Bosca & Familia Arizu, Bodega Malma, Masi Tupungato, Mendel, Bodegas Salentein, Bodega Tonneles, Santa Ana, Trapiche and Familia Zuccardi.
A special and exclusive masterclass will take place in the restaurant at the Hilton at 11am. Presented by Tim Atkin MW, the class is based around ‘The Argentina You Don’t Know‘ and will introduce you to a range of styles that you might not be familiar with.
