Back to School with TheTaste.ie and Freddy Buttons

Here at TheTaste.ie we believe that you’re never too young to be a foodie, and with that in mind, we have a very special offer for you. TheTaste.ie are delighted to announce a collaboration with Irish food writer Fiona Dillon, and together, we want to spread the message to children all over Ireland about where their food comes from – not from a supermarket or a factory, but from nature and the land.

Fiona Dillon is passionate about real Irish food and, having written and published Food From An Irish Garden (Orpen Press 2013), she really wanted to write something for children that focused on food provenance and healthy eating. She created a little character called Freddy Buttons and set about writing a series of books that would introduce young children to the concept of where “real food” comes from.

Freddy Buttons world was made real with an award winning Freddy Buttons themed garden at Bloom earlier this year.

While the books can be read to children from a very young age, the first three books are designed for 5-7 years olds and the second three for 6-8 year olds. The series is accompanied by a website where children can interact with Freddy in a fun way to learn more about healthy food.

We think it is the perfect way to spend some quality time with your kids, while teaching them about food and makes the ideal gift for birthday party season.
