All Aboard! Belfast’s New €32 Million Titanic Hotel Launches This Weekend

After a €32 million investment Belfast’s newest four star hotel, Titanic Hotel Belfast will open this Sunday, September 10th.

The restoration of the former Harland & Wolff drawing offices and headquarters has seen the historic building transformed into 119-room hotel with 90 employees.

Original features preserved in the Titanic Hotel include Harland & Wolff’s board room, directors’ entrance and lobby, former directors’ offices and the telephone exchange, which received the first communication of Titanic hitting the iceberg.

Bolstered by a €5.4 million Heritage Lottery Fund grant secured by the Titanic Foundation, the building’s history will be an integral part of the operation of its modern incarnation with daily tours will soon be on offer to showcase the heritage features.

The investment was From Sunday’s opening, Drawing office one will also house a temporary six-week exhibition that will share the story of the conservation and construction of the buildings and hotel.

Though with stunning views overlooking with the Harland and Wolff cranes to the east and Titanic Belfast and the slipways to the west the landmark buildings legacy will never be far from guests minds.

John Doherty, a director of hotel operator Harcourt Developments, said: “To be finally ready to open this historical and authentic hotel is another mark in the history of Queen’s Island. Titanic Hotel Belfast is a hub of heritage and legacy, and we’re delighted to open the doors to the public and our first guests on Sunday.
