Dinner and a Movie: Where to Eat and Drink Near Dublin Cinemas

From the classic dating combo of dinner and a movie to the post-film pint that keeps the evening going after you watched the heroes of the season saving the world, having a venue in mind to enjoy food or drink before or after the function will only make your night more enjoyable. We have rounded up some of our favourite venues within walking distance from Dublin’s favourite cinemas so save yourself some hassle and double your fun.

So, here are some places to eat near Cineworld, Savoy Cinema and Light House Cinema.

CINEWORLD DUBLIN

THE CHURCH

This famous venue is just a few steps away from Cineworld and it’s just so versatile! You can get a pre-movie drink or coffee (during the summer you can enjoy it in their spacious outdoors area) or come back for dinner and treat yourself to modern and tasty dishes of Irish inspiration and global appeal. KLAW POKE

This cool casual venue offers a taste of the trendy Hawaiian seafood specialty Pokē as well as other wonderful treats fresh from the ocean. If you’ve enjoyed oysters or fish dishes at Klaw on Temple Bar, then you’ll love this place. It’s perfect for a relaxed dinner and they serve food until 11:00 pm you late birds are welcome too.

BROTHER HUBBARD

This place is more than a café (although they do make great coffee). It’s a venue that works well whether you want to share brunch or a coffee and a cake before an early function, or you are looking for a casual spot to relax for dinner and perhaps get a bottle of wine. Bonus points for their vegan menu.

Is it a Korean restaurant? Is it a pub? GELATO DI NATURA

This authentic gelato parlour is pretty much neighbouring the Savoy Cinema and is open until 9:00 pm so it works perfectly well for a sweet treat before the film starts. They also do coffee, hot chocolates, crepes and other Italian and French style pastries.

Restaurant by day, wine bar by night, this jazzy venue is always up to something; whether it’s their scrumptious supper club with live entertainment on Thursdays, or their irresistible deal of a free meat and cheese board with a bottle of wine on Mondays, you’ll always find this place is a complete crowd pleaser.

LIGHT HOUSE CINEMA

LIGHT HOUSE CAFE

The cinema itself has a very inviting restaurant area that it’s ideal for a light lunch or dinner, or a coffee and pastry before facing the silver screen. They go the extra mile to offer dishes from prestigious producers and when it comes to wine and beers, they also excel, with bottles of wine from independent importers and craft beers brewed by some of the best brewers in town. Down the stairs, you’ll find the bar area, where you can also enjoy spirits and cocktails.

If you feel like moving from the big screen to a smaller screen but not quite your phone’s, what about a flashy arcade? This newly opened bar and restaurant features working retro-gaming arcades that you can play with your friends, although you don’t have to indulge in video games to enjoy their ample offer of craft beer and a food menu with numerous street food classics with a twist.

COTTO

This friendly neighbourhood pizza place is an ideal spot to complement your movie experience. They open Wednesdays to Sundays from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (they close at 9:00 pm on Sunday) and besides classic Italian style pizzas, they also have a brunch menu on the weekends. Wine wise, expect Italian, French and Spanish bottles.
