Galway is quickly establishing itself as a must visit foodie destination, so much so that it has been named the European Region of Gastronomy 2018. As the home of some of the country’s finest artisan producers, it is little wonder that the annual Bia Lover Food Festival in Athenry attracts thousands of The visitors every year.
Now in its fourth year, the festival will run from June 16th to 18th and will see a vast array of passionate producers seeking to showcase their delicious wares, with the beautiful backdrop of Athenry Castle. Visitors can expect a packed line up of food talks, cookery demonstrations and of course plenty of tasting samples.From Brown Bag Donuts to Burren Gold Cheese to the traditional Boxty, there will be something to tempt everyone.
Festival goers can learn more about food from some of the best chefs, nutritionists and producers in a custom designed demonstration marquee. The Bia Lover festival is also bringing a little French charm to Galway this year, with 10 Loire Valley based wine producers travelling to this event to share their knowledge.
While the festival centre piece will be the producer market, there will also be music and dance, a multicultural food tasting, baking competitions, busking competitions, children’s activities and general all round great fun and entertainment – making the festival the perfect way to spend the weekend come rain or shine.
