We look forward to Christmas as much as we do the festive food and celebrations, and within Dublin’s hopping Temple Bar district, one restaurant is getting into the swing of things in good time.
Bringing the Yuletide joy to life, Gallagher’s Boxty House has launched its Christmas specials, with a selection of delicious dishes on their specially priced menus.
Festive starters include thinly sliced Hot Smoked Salmon with a Whiskey dressing, a Baked Carrot & Honey Tartlet or a traditionally Irish Seafood Chowder made with both smoked and fresh fish.
Main courses at the restaurant reflect their “totally Irish” ethos, from the Irish Beef & Stout Stew that’s been marinated in their home brew by Jack Smyth Stout, the restaurant’s signature Boxty Pancakes with either Chicken, Bacon & Leek Cream Sauce or with Medallions of Irish Fillet Beef and Irish Whiskey.
Of course, there is also the Traditional Turkey & Ham Christmas dinner, complete with stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, roast potatoes and a carrot purée, to satisfy the classic cravings.
As for dessert there is a trio of lovely dishes to choose from – Baileys Cheesecake with a rich, delectable chocolate sauce, festive favourite Raspberry Trifle that’s made with custard, hazelnut praline and set vanilla cream, while the Boxty Ice Cream is served with chocolate and buttermilk boxty pancakes.
You choose from a main course for only €20 per person, a 2-course meal at €25 pp or a 3-course meal at €30 pp – each of which includes one drink too. The selection of drinks includes a glass of the House Red or White Wine, the Draught pint of beer, cider or stouts by Jack Smyth Stouts & Ales, or mineral drinks too.
