California Wine Week in Ireland 2017 – Discover the Taste of the Golden State from May 5th to 12th

California Wines are having more than a moment in the sun, the region’s wines are growing in popularity globally and they have earned a name among the world’s finest. With an increasing interest in bottles from this versatile land, May 2017 will see Ireland’s first California Wine Week, an ideal occasion to taste and discover the best that the different sub-regions of the Golden State have to offer.

From May 5th to the 12th, wine lovers in Ireland will be able to satisfy their thirst for knowledge (and for a glass or two) of California wines, thanks to a series of events, offers and more to celebrate this fascinating wine region.

Irish Times wine writer John Wilson will guide guests through the styles of California wines stopping to present the ‘Sideways Challenge’ and revisiting the ‘Judgement of Paris’. Pinot Noir vs Merlot, Chateau Montelena Chardonnay & Stags Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Cakebread, Shafer, Othello by Dominus and many more icons. Dishes by ely Excecutive Chef Ryan Stringer, showcasing fine Irish produce, including organic meats from the ely family farm in Clare.

Join us for a Californian wine evening of discovery with the chance to taste top estates Clos du Val, Freemark Abbey and Cambria hosted by wine experts Tomas Clancy of the Sunday Business Post and Lynne Coyle Master of Wine, no wine stone will be left unturned in the quest to discover these unique wines.

For the finale of the week, we move to the fabulous Residence Club on St. Stephen’s Green.  The evening will start with some bubbles and canapes, Liam Campbell of TheTaste.ie will give a worldwind tour of California with 6 beautiful wines, including, Macmurray estate wine, La Crema, Black Stallion and Chateau Montelena, served with delectable tasting plates.  To finish off the event we invite our guests to celebrate the end of California Wine Week with a classic American Cocktail.
