Taking place from Friday August 11th to Monday August 14th, this weekend’s Carlingford Oyster Festival is packed with fun activities for the whole family, including kayaking, bouncy castles, a magic show and face painting.
Music will be playing in all of the local pubs, along with lively street entertainment and artisan food on offer in local restaurants and food stalls.
On Sunday, Carlingford is celebrating Irish Walled Towns Day with guided walking tours of the medieval town, coin striking and the Carlingford Big Dig Event.
Of course, the main attraction this weekend are the oysters. Visitors can enjoy wine & Carlingford Oysters while taking in the wide variety of street vendors and entertainment.
For young guests, the Kiddies Oyster Pearl Welly Hunt encourages the whole family to forage on the shores of Carlingford Lough to find treasures hidden within the shorelife and seashells.
There’s also the festival’s version of the ‘lovely girl’ competition. Do you think you have what it takes to become the 2017 Pearl?
According to their website, the Carlingford Oyster Festival is a “Food & Family Entertainment Festival” promoting activities that enhance the existing gastronomy, fresh produce and Artisan craft & Design offering in the area.
