Cask Wins Bar of the Year at the Bar of The Year Awards 2019

Cask also took home the title of Cocktail Bar of the Year for the third year running, while Bar Manager of the Year went to Cask’s Andy Ferreira.

Cask in Cork took home the highest honour on the night at the Bar of the Year Awards 2019, winning Bar of the Year for the second year in a row. The gala award ceremony took place on the 19th of August at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road.

It was one of three awards that Cask took back to Cork, the others being Cocktail Bar of the Year 2019 – which they have won for the third year running – and Bar Manager of the Year 2019 which went to Andy Ferreira.

Andy said, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have won the title of Bar of the Year for the second year running. The energy and vibrancy of the Irish hospitality industry at the moment is just unbelievable, and we’re delighted to be recognised within this industry and to fly the flag for Cork. Above all else, what we strive for at Cask is consistency. We want each drink we serve to be the best drink that customer has ever had, and we strive to always deliver the best possible customer experience. We are now on our tenth cocktail menu and we really put our heart and soul into the development of each menu, constantly pushing ourselves as a creative team to make drinks which are innovative, exciting and taste amazing. We’re incredibly passionate about what we do and winning these awards is reward for a lot of hard work.”

Cask has been wowing the public and hospitality industry alike since opening in February 2017 for its cutting-edge, seasonal, nature-led drinks menus. Andy and his award-winning bar team – which includes Linda O’Flynn and Carl d’Alton, winners of the 2019 and 2018 World Class Irish Bartender of the Year, respectively – have a strict ethos of basing their cocktails around the wild ingredients that grow in Ireland. The team has built a reputation for producing the most creative and innovative drinks menus in Ireland.

Head bartender Linda O’Flynn will also be representing Ireland in the Diageo World Class Global Final 2019 in Glasgow next month.

The local ingredient concept is carried across to the street food-inspired, tapas and small plates food menu at Cask, which is designed by award-winning local food devotee, chef Bryan McCarthy.

The judging process for the Bar of the Year Awards 2019 involved a first round of reviewing and scoring of entries by an expert judging panel, who then conducted a second round of on-site inspections of the shortlisted finalists.

The Bar of the Year Awards are organised by Licensing World magazine.
