The second series of Catherine Fulvio’s “Tastes Like Home” is set to hit our screens this November. The cooking show with a dash of travel makes its return on on Wednesday, November 1st at 7.30pm, RTE One and runs for six weeks, until December 13th.
Again this series “Tastes Like Home” will witness Catherine Fulvio visit six families in Ireland who show her how to make their favourite ‘Tastes Like Home’ dishes, and then she jets off to locations around the world to recreate the dishes with their loved ones, friends and family living abroad.
This year Catherine’s travels see her visit, at home, Belfast, Roscommon, Carrick on Suir, Dublin, Kildare and Sligo, and, abroad, South Korea, Capetown, Mexico, LA, Vancouver and Johannesburg.
Catherine Fulvio, together with proud sponsor Londis, issued the call for applicants who wished to star on the second season of the show and was said to be inundated with applicants.
Speaking about the new series Catherine said: “One of my favourite aspects to the show is the chance to witness first hand the connection people have with the food they grew up with and the emotions stirred with the fond memories it evoked.”
“I really believe this season is going to be a great watch as we experience some fantastic things like feeding a giraffe and seeing lions up close in South Africa, zip-lining in the Mexican jungle, eating sea urchins in South Korea, as well as visiting some of the foodie hotspots in the adopted homes of our participants, giving the series more of that travel show element.
Brian Walsh, deputy head of acquisitions and executive producer for RTÉ commented: “RTÉ is very happy to work with Catherine Fulvio and Londis on this new travel based culinary format. With such a vast diaspora and food evoking such strong connections with place and memory, it will make for exciting viewing.”
