Raise a Glass to 2017 at 40,000 Feet – Celebrate New Year’s Eve in the World’s Highest Drinks Lounge

Not sure how to celebrate New Year’s Eve? Stuck for ideas on how to ring in the New Year? Why not try something completely different like the thousands of people for whom midnight on December 31st will be spent at 40,000 feet, toasting the start of 2017 in the highest Lounge in the world, Emirates’ A380 onboard Lounge.

All Business Class and First Class passengers flying onboard the double decker of the sky can enjoy complimentary drinks, canapés and snacks and the A380 Lounge is a great place to relax and unwind between movies, meet fellow travellers or simply stretch your legs and enjoy a different onboard experience.

The bar is staffed throughout the flight so you can enjoy a glass of Veuve Cliquot, a celebratory cocktail, such as a Manhattan or Cosmopolitan, a selection of premium spirits including Jameson Whiskey and Grey Goose Vodka or keep it simple with a juice or soda.

As the airline with the most A380s in the sky, Emirates has 87 double decker aircraft, connecting passengers via Dubai to amazing destinations including Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Auckland, Singapore, Mauritius, Hong Kong and Johannesburg.

Enda Corneille, country manager for Emirates in Ireland explains who might be travelling on New Year’s Eve. “Our passengers are travelling at this time for all sorts of reasons. Expats are returning to Dubai or Australia after the Christmas break at home; many people decide to take a sun holiday at the beginning of January and might be heading to Dubai, the Seychelles or Sydney; business travellers are heading to meetings in the Middle East and India and visitors to Ireland are simply heading home.”

“We expect to have a full aircraft departing Dublin on the evening of December 31st with up to 380 passengers celebrating the midnight hour with Emirates, on route to Dubai onboard a state-of-the art Boeing 777. Passengers will enjoy gourmet cuisine and a selection of fine wines, many of which are exclusive to Emirates.”

Most popular on the Dublin to Dubai route

One of the most popular meals on the Dublin to Dubai route is the Irish Beef Fillet served with locally-sourced Irish vegetables and available in both First Class and Business Class. The beef is procured from the well known Gahan Meats, which started as a corner shop butcher in Raheny in Dublin.

When it comes to wines, passengers from Ireland are somewhat conservative in their tastes but know what they like; the most popular wines on the Dublin to Dubai route are a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and red Bordeaux.

Emirates is the only airline connecting passengers direct between Dublin and Dubai with a twice daily service. Economy Class return fares start from €409, inclusive of all taxes and charges.
