Rain or shine, this Spicy Chilean Red will Brighten Up your Evening

Versatility is a handy virtue when you live in a place where the four seasons can be experienced in a day. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, they say, and carrying both sunglasses and an umbrella when leaving the house is just one of many examples of how to be really summer ready.

While some wines are decidedly cosy winter warmers are others are just perfectly refreshing when enjoyed well chilled under a radiant sun, uncertainty sometimes calls for a flexible tipple.

EtniEtnico Reserva 2014 - Wine of the Week from O'Briensco 2014 is a chameleon. This Chilean red combines Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in a delicious argument for the New World’s open mindedness when it comes to grape blending.

Organic fruit sourced from the South American country’s Rapel Valley, a privileged sub-region within the wider Central Valley, becomes a sustainably produced harmony of blackberries, ripe black cherries, pepper and coffee.

Its tannins boast the gentle strength of a loving hug, they grab you and wrap your palate without overwhelming it. Balanced and with a plump body, it’s as comfortable accompanying a BBQ on a sunny day as it is being sipped slowly by the fire.

Etnico 2014 is available at O’Briens Wine at €10.95 (on offer from €13.95).
