He battled 37 finalists and made it into the last round along seven other participants, each a national winner.
The overall victor was Belgium’s Van Ongevalle, who presented a cocktail called “Clarita”, made with Bacardi Gran Reserva 8 Años Rum, Amontillado Sherry, crème de cacao, absinthe and a dash of saline solution.
Grace Tsai from Taiwan and Kentaro Satoh from Japan were runners up for the top position. The other grand finalists were Loreta Toska from Greece, Hideyuki Saito from Thailand, Darren Miley from New Zealand and Dave Kerr from Australia.
Bartenders competing at the Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition 2017 were not only judged for the quality of their cocktail but on a series of parameters including the drink’s name, story, appearance, ingenuity, innovation, refreshment, product knowledge and technical skills.
