Dax Restaurant owner Olivier Meisonnave working closely with Simon Community has come up with a fund raising initiative to gather other restauranteurs in “giving something back”. Olivier is a very passionate advocate for Simon and the outstanding work they do among our homeless community.
Along with visiting some of the high support housing, Olivier and his staff hosted barbecues for some of the residents. Throughout the last twelve months, the generous restaurateur donated €2 from every table that dined in Dax to the Simon cause. Speaking to TheTaste Olivier spoke of how moved he was after visiting the housing units and seeing first hand the important work that is being done throughout Dublin city for this on going issue.
Olivier has encouraged other restaurant owners to become involved in similar initiatives after handing a cheque for over €11,000 to the Simon Community generated by his teams efforts. Hosting a gala dinner in Dax attended by some of Dublin top restaurateurs, he is championing others to become involved in this worthy cause.
Kelly Crowley from Dublin Simon Community stated, “On behalf of the Dublin Simon Communityand the people who rely on our services, we would like to thank Dax Restaurant for their generous support.
“At a time when demand is at crisis levels, we are vigorously working to do everything possible to respond to the ever growing need for our services. The money raised from this initiative will help us to provide services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to find a place they can call home. At Simon, we listen to people who turn to us for help and do everything we canto support them to move out of homelessness into independent living.”To find out more about the campaign and to join the growing list of Dining for Simon restaurants call 1850 462 462 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
