Sometimes all you want to do is to catch up with your best friend over a meal or a cup of coffee, and sometimes your best friend happens to be a dog. Dublin’s food scene might be known for numerous positive qualities, but being pet-friendly is not one of them so, where to go with your canine pal? We have compiled a list of dog friendly restaurants Dublin has to offer, after all, for many pet lovers, they’re part of the family too!

PUPP

The ultimate destination for dog people. Not only dogs are welcomed indoors, they’re encouraged! They sell dog treats both for sit in and take away and they even stock Belgian beer for dogs. They also have a menu for humans, with your usual pastries and healthy breakfast, light lunch options (soup and sandwiches) and brunch all week round. They’ve several vegetarian items on the menu and “pay what you can afford” organic porridge. The place is also a dog boutique offering several high-end accessories and toys.

MVP

Bodytonic bars are known for their casual and quirky vibes and dog lovers will find MVP to be the most welcoming of the portfolio (they even have a sign announcing it, in case you’re wondering!). Open daily from 4:00 pm, it features a wide selection of cocktails and craft beers as well as a menu by Spudbox, with baked potatoes with a choice of fillings as the main attraction.

EDEN BAR & GRILL

Pets are allowed in the terrace area so you can bring the whole family for brunch, one of the venue’s specialties. Their relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff will look after you and thanks to its excellent location, you can even drop by St. Stephen’s Green park after just a short stroll away and continue with the fun.

THE BATH

The closest pub to the Aviva Stadium is simply pawesome! Bring the barkers along for brunch on the weekend or let them keep you company while having a pizza any evening of the week. The food surpasses what you’d expect to find in a pub (pizzas by award-winning Base Wood Fired Pizza), and of course, the drinks are top notch with plenty of craft beers and signature cocktails.

THE DOGHOUSE BLUES TEAROOM & RESTAURANT

This quirky establishment in Howth is ideal to hang out with your pets. They’ve a fantastic selection of fine teas and besides cakes and pastries, they do wood-fired oven pizzas and some other simple and tasty dishes and bar bites. They have a concise agreeable wine list and for a small corkage fee of €7.50, they’ll let you BYOB! Their outdoor living room also allows them to offer hand rolled cigars.

THE FUMBALLY

Always buzzing and a long time favourite of the creative and the cool, this café is open to well behaved humans and dogs Tuesday to Saturday (usually until 5:00 pm, but on Wednesday you can stay for dinner until 9:30 pm). Besides great coffee and homemade top quality treats, you can enjoy the place’s great energy and flavourful salads and lunch options!

COPPINGER ROW

This eclectic restaurant has a lovely terrace area where dogs are invited to relax while their humans enjoy brunch, lunch, dinner or tapas. The area is heated, and they’ll be quick to hand you a blanket if needed and offer a water bowl to your canine companion. It opens days from noon til late and besides their varied and top-quality food offer, they have a really cool cocktail menu.

PAWS AT ARGILLAN CASTLE

Within beautiful park and close to the seaside, Paws is part of the stunning Argillan Castle (located in the Gardener’s Cottage) and the place to relax after a long walk. There are water bowls and a few doggie snacks to choose from for the fluffy ones as well as a boutique area with cute accessories and toys. Humans are also well looked after, with hot food served as well as snacks and pastries.

HIPPETY’S

This Café, gallery and wine bar is an oddity in Temple Bar. Dogs are welcome and it has a quiet, relaxed atmosphere that contrasts with its louder, bigger neighbours. Well behaved creatures and their pets can hang out both in and outdoors and humans will surely enjoy its light-hearted decor. They do breakfast, lunch and dinner and serve wine and beer.

THE CAKE CAFE

One of Dublin’s most welcoming cafés couldn’t snub men’s (and women’s) best friends. They’ve excellent coffee and a great selection of cakes (including vegan options) as well as several light lunch options such as sandwiches, salads and hot specials. Award-winning Irish ingredients meet the warmest of services.
