The Draft House Gastro Pub in Strandhill, Co. Sligo is currently celebrating its third birthday and the award-winning eatery is going from strength to strength.
Head Chef Lee Mastin is bringing all his Michelin kitchen experience to the new summer menu, which launches this week. The menu combines old favourites with some unusual dishes, including Succotash (an American sweetcorn and bean dish).
Desserts are completely reinvented with a Pick ‘n’ Mix theme, where customers choose two mini desserts. The mouth watering choice ranges from Blueberry Financiers and Vanilla Poached Strawberries with Lemon Mascarpone and a Brandy Snap to Vegan Avocado, Banana, Cacao and Chilli Mousse served with Date and Buckwheat Biscuits.
Lee Mastin’s menus are a long way from standard pub grub. A carefully selected range of craft beers and ciders finishes off the perfect meal.
The new menu is not only full of zingy new dishes but also features a striking new look. The specially commissioned cover is a painting by local artist Aisling Ní Ghallachóir. Featuring Strandhill and all the recognisable local landmarks, it’s bright, appealing and very contemporary. The original will soon be on permanent display inside the pub.
Speaking about the past number of years, Nicholas Ryan, Draft House Manager, says: “It’s been a whirlwind three years and we’re looking forward to the birthday celebration. We’re inviting everyone who is in The Draft House this Friday to join us for posh bubbles and a very special birthday cake.”
So kick off your weekend in style with a visit to The Draft House in Strandhill, Co. Sligo. If you aren’t in the area today, don’t worry, because from the June Bank Holiday weekend onwards, The Draft House will be open seven days a week.
