The coffee scene in Dublin 8 has been brewing for some time, and the area is now home to some of the best coffee shops in the city, Two Pups, Legit Coffee, Love Supreme, and Meet Me in the Morning among them.
While most of the action has taken place closer to the city centre now the Island Bridge/Phoenix Park side of Dublin 8 is finally upping its coffee credentials with a new café, Storyboard, popping up in Clancy Quay this weekend.
With little more than a holding page for now on their website, curious coffee lovers can get a better insight into the new opening on their Instagram page. There the minimal, industrial chic interior is revealed, as well as their coffee of choice, local roaster 3fe.
Of course, no cafe worth its coffee is complete without a killer brunch menu these days, and Storyboard has come up trumps. The handwritten menus shared on their Instagram give a taste of what’s to come including the likes of scrambled Wicklow eggs on Le Levain sourdough, with miso buttered greens and house fermented sriracha.
For a sweeter start to your day there’s black rice porridge served with date caramel toasted coconut, crystallised ginger, fresh fruit and nuts.
An emphasis on food made from scratch, fermentation, and local producers is evident, with McNally Family Farm veg, Le Levain Bakery, and Gubbeen all name checked on the menu.
Situated on the southern banks of the River Liffey, until now the amenities surrounding Clancy Quay, a designer apartment and townhouse complex, have been few and far between. Storyboard will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood and will no doubt attract food and coffee lovers to the area too.
Storyboard is open Tuesday-Friday from 7.30am to 5pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4.30pm. Weekend brunch starts at 10am.
