It seems barely a day passes without the news of a new hotel in Dublin and just last week we reported on three new hotels set to open across the city.
Located on the corner of Merrion Square, The Alex Hotel is a sophisticated addition to Dublin’s blossoming hotel scene.
Rather than a brand new opening the latest edition to the city centre is a major refurbishment of the hotel formerly know as the O’Callaghan Alexander Hotel, a process which began in January 2017 and will be officially unveiled on October 1st.
The contemporary décor is accented with subtles nod to retro glamour and eclectic pieces of furnishings and art.
The hotel will also house a new standalone, open plan cafe in the ground floor lobby.
The stylish makeover is a mix of modern design with nods to vintage throughout, such as the old style telephone and Roberts’s radio in each bedroom.
Over six floors 103 bedrooms have been newly refurbished, including 36 executive rooms and 5 suites as well as the new addition of a private Executive Lounge on the 6th floor.
Each room includes a luxury bathroom with rain forest shower head, stylish contemporary furnishings and state of the art technology including a 50 inch smart TV.
Six fully transformed conference and event spaces, with a total capacity of 400 delegates, will make The Alex a strong competitor for the city’s business community’s attention.
Though its close proximity to transport links including Pearse Station and the LUAS will make it an appealing choice for those visiting the city on business or leisure.
The Alex is part of the O’Callaghan Hotel group, a family-owned business that has been running the hotel business in Dublin for 25 years.
Other Dublin hotels in the group include The Stephen’s Green Hotel, Mont Clare Hotel and the Davenport Hotel.
Further afield O’Callaghan Hotels operate hotels in Annapolis, Cambridge and Gibraltar.
