€42 Million Investment and 120 Jobs Created in Historic Dublin Location

Dublin, 16 May 2019 | Dalata Hotel Group plc (“Dalata” or “the Company”), Ireland’s largest hotel operator and owner of the Clayton and Maldron hotel brands, will today mark the official opening of its Clayton Hotel Charlemont on Charlemont Street, Dublin 2.

The hotel, which opened its doors in November 2018, has had a busy start to the year as it welcomed guests from four corners of the globe. The hotel will officially be opened this afternoon by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin TD and Chairman of Dalata Hotel Group, John Hennessy.

Situated on the banks of Dublin’s Grand Canal, the 4-star hotel has been designed to emphasise the historic features with modern architecture. The hotel integrates the classic facades of three 18th Century Georgian buildings, 35, 36 and 37 Charlemont Street, with a new 4-storey building linked by a tastefully designed atrium, emphasising the hotels stunning lobby space. During construction, the 18th Century Georgian buildings, which included the renowned St Ultan’s Maternity Hospital, were restored and are now home to luxury suites and conference facilities.

The hotel boasts 189 stylishly designed bedrooms, a fitness suite, six fully equipped meeting rooms, and two brand new dining concepts Gaudens Restaurant and Lockside Bar/Social.

The hotel is another excellent addition to Dalata’s growing Dublin portfolio. The Dublin market continues to perform strongly for Dalata and RevPAR for the first quarter in the Group’s Dublin hotels was up 2.4% year on year. In addition to today’s opening, the Group currently have 410 rooms in the pipeline for the capital.
