If West Cork is in your holiday plans this summer and you want to get a flavour of the region, then you might want to schedule in a tasting tour of the West Cork’s foodie town Clonakilty.
Last year Kate hosted visitors to Clonakilty from across Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, UK, Sweden, Canada and USA who were introduced to some of the town’s most treasured food producers.
Kate’s knowledge of the local food scene in Clonakilty and the relationships she has with food producers means that she can craft a unique guided tour, opening up a world of food stories, skills and traditions that otherwise is lost from view.
On the diverse food scene in Clonakilty Kate says: “The food scene in Clonakilty continues to grow its foodie credentials. The new Clonakilty Black Pudding factory on the outskirts of town is a great example of that.”
“There is really something for everyone on this tour, ranging from butchers, bakers and bean-to-bar chocolate makers via cheese, ice-cream, craft beer and of course the bustling Clonakilty Farmers’ Market with its myriad artisan products from across West Cork.”Clonakilty Walking Food Tour is listed on the Wild Atlantic Way and categorised as a Hidden Gem and has also been approved by Faílte Ireland.
The tour costs €45 per head and takes place every Friday, rain or shine, from June – August. Places are limited and booking in advance is required before 4pm on Thursday.
