Three to Try: Our Top Picks from Vinostito’s Portfolio Tasting

Last Monday, 6th of March, we had the opportunity to attend the portfolio tasting of Vinostito, a company specialised in bringing interesting European wines into Ireland, known for it’s carefully curated selection of Spanish wines, as well as French, Italian, Portuguese and Austrian bottles.

With a focus on independent wineries and several organic, biodynamic and sustainably produced wines, Vinostito‘s event, held at Dublin 2’s Drury Building, wasn’t short of bottles we’ll be drinking through the year!

€23.50 – Available at 64Wine

An harmonious combination of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Lean and perfumed, blackberries, plums and a touch of sweet spice travel on bold tannins that linger and make you long for more.

Rich and balanced, it’s not just pleasant on the nose and the plate, it’s a very reasonable price for its quality.

BEST ON A BLOW OUT

€46 – Available at Clontarf Wines, Baggot Street Wines, La Touche Wines

From the Spanish DO Valdeorras, this intense, biodynamic white wine gives a different face to the usually uncomplicated Godello.

Structure, complex and with a powerful combination of minerality and ripe citrus aromas and flavours, it manages to elevate the variety while retaining its characteristic freshness.

UNUSUAL TREAT

€19.50 – Available at Green Man Wines

Fuschia gleams introduce this uncommon rosé made with a blend of Austrian varieties (Zweigelt, Saint Laurent and Blaufrankischt).

Moderate in acidity and generous in aromas and flavours, specially of raspberries and cherry blossom. It is the type of bottle you can enjoy year round, but which will really come to life chilled on a summer day.
