No weekend plans? No problem. There’s always something happening around the country and this weekend is no different.

From Dublin’s exciting Grill Fest to food festivals in Donegal and Galway, take the family for a weekend treat to make the most of the end of the summer.

Big Grill Fest, Dublin

The Big Grill Fest is Ireland’s first international BBQ festival, described as “a celebration of the art of cooking with fire & smoke” and offering a stage to the numerous styles of BBQing from around the globe.

Taking place in Dublin’s Herbert Park, Big Grill Fest features talks and demonstrations, workshops, competitions and a children’s area.

Dublin Quays Festival

This year’s Dublin Quays Festival will see a number of free music events taking place in The Workmans Club, The Sound House, The Liquor Rooms, The Grand Social, The Wiley Fox, Sin E and Bagots Hutton.

As well as a live music programme, there will also be a number of spoken word, cultural talks, literary events, pop up performances and club nights.

Syrias Vibes Launches ‘The Artist’s Cookbook’ to Raise Funds Syria and Iraq

A new book featuring 100 Irish and International artists sharing their combined love of food and art will go on sale for charity this week. Syrias Vibes will launch The Artist’s Cookbook with an event in one of Dublin’s coolest spaces – Airbnb’s European Headquarters. The initiative aims to help raise funds to support displaced people in Syria and Iraq.

Admission to the launch of The Artist’s Cookbook is free and guests in attendance will get a copy of the book. At the launch, Airbnb’s top chefs will provide a selection of delicious canapes, with plenty of music and refreshments including wine and beer from Rascals Brewing Co.

Tuam Food Festival

The Blas @ Brownes – Tuam Food Festival is a celebration of the best from the west! A fun, free, family day out, attendees can meet local food and drink producers, sample the culinary delights and fill both their “bellies and cupboards”.

This is the first year of the festival which takes place at Brownes, The Square, Tuam, Co. Galway on Sunday August 20th from 1-5pm.

Donegal Bay Maritime Festival

Events

The Donegal Bay Maritime Festival is taking place this weekend at the pier in Donegal town. This maritime family-friendly weekend will appeal to people of all ages.

On Sunday, the town will welcome the Irish Coastal Rowing Federation All Ireland Rowing Championships to Donegal.
