Fiesta Jose Cuervo Brings Taste of Mexico Festival to a Close
The Fiesta Jose Cuervo took place in Lillie’s Bordello on Grafton Street last Friday as part of the closing weekend’s activities of Taste of Mexico, making winter in the city a little bit warmer with fabulous food and tequila of course!
Naturally for a festival all about food and drink there were trays of delectable food served throughout the course of the evening, with participants from Taste of Mexico: Mero Mero, Xico, Mission Mexican, K Chido, El Grito, Little Ass Burrito Bar and Acapulco really giving guests a taste of Mexico on the evening!
Ambassador of Mexico to Ireland H.E. Carlos García de Alba welcomed the Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh, sponsors Jose Cuervo and the full board of sponsors and participants of Taste of Mexico. Fiesta goers enjoyed Jose Cuervo Margaritas, Palomas and Charro Negros shaken, stirred and poured by the talented bunch behind the bar in Lillie’s!
While lively music from Mariachi San Patricio rang out around the Long Bar and Round Bar, the serious business of the Jose Cuervo Taste of Mexico Best Margarita competition took place. Judges Fergal Wilson from Bushmills Spirits, for Jose Cuervo, José Torres Díaz, expert on all aspects of tequila and the international representative for the Tequila Regulatory Council (Consejo Regulador del Tequila) and Evelyn Hewitt from Lillie’s Bordello were tasked with picking the best margarita from participating bars on the night.
After some deliberation the winner was announced as Conor Brennan from The Meeting House in Dublin for his twist on the classic Margarita, Somewhere Between Nowhere and Goodbye, which saw him add a dash of Rioja to his Margarita to compliment the earthiness of the Jose Cuervo. The prize for the Jose Cuervo Taste of Mexico Best Margarita? Flights to Mexico City and accommodation in Cancun for a bit of R&R in the Mexican sunshine!
Fiesta Jose Cuervo was a great way to celebrate the closing weekend of the fifth annual Taste of Mexico, with all involved already looking forward to 2016!
