The weekend is here and with it the food and drink rituals we’ve been waiting all week to savour.

But in between brunch, your weekly takeaway, and drinks with friends there are a host of foodie events that will satisfy every craving.

Here are our picks of the eight best food and drink events this weekend, June June 24-25th.

Body & Soul

Body&Soul is a bizarre and beautiful banquet and is far more than a music festival. This weekend, from 23-25th June, along with a feast of food trucks the festival is offering an unmissable gastronomic experience for lovers of fine food and drink too. Feeding the body and nourishing the soul, festival foodies are invited to join Food on Board and Veuve Clicquot for tantalising treats and sparkling conversations in a new dedicated food stage with a focus on high-end, sustainable and delectable cuisine, featuring familiar faces like Kevin Thornton, the dynamic Happy Pear duo, Klaw’s Niall Sabongi, Spice Bag king Kwanghi Chan and TheTaste’s own Darina Coffey.

Flavours of Fingal

After the success of last years festival, The Flavours of Fingal County Show is back. Over three days once again the event will offer the ultimate farming experience for the whole family to enjoy with a mix of foodie and farming attractions all taking place within the historic walled garden of Newbridge House and Farm, Donabate, County Dublin. No trip the festival would be comeplete without tasting some of the wide range of locally produced artisan food on offer.

Stoneybatter Festival

Love Supreme Stoneybatter

The first ever Stoneybatter Festival will take place this weekend following six months’ work by a dedicated Pride of Place Committee. The three-day event schedule, which includes festival menus in local restaurants, reaches it’s peak on Sunday with Stoneybatter closed to traffic for the first time ever. One of the highlights of the many events on Sunday will be “Afternoon Tea with Mrs Doyle” with local resident Pauline McLynn of Father Ted fame and Anna Nolan of the Great Irish Bake-off judging cake and sandwich competitions. Winners will be awarded tea-cosies knitted by ‘Mrs Doyle’ – a prize money cannot buy.

Old Butter Roads Food Trail

The next installment of the Old Butter Roads Food Trail series’ next programme of events takes place in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork this weekend, celebrating the wide range of foods produced in the Muskerry, Duhallow and Avondhu areas. Highlight of the weekend are the food and wine tasting experience beginning at Ballinwillin House on Sunday, June 25th and a guided historical walk of Mitchelstown, stopping at various points including; Market Place Restaurant, O Callaghan’s Deli & Cafe and Blueberries Café.

Día e Day Hispanic Food Fair

To celebrate, Spanish Cultural Day this Saturday, the 24th of June, the Spanish Cultural Institute will open its doors to host Día e Day. Taking place at Instituto Cervantes, the free, family friendly event includes a Hispanic Food Fair, which gives people an insight into food from Argentina, Cuba, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Spain. If you consider yourself as a omelette professional, make sure you enter the Spanish Omelette Competition and you could be in with a chance to with a trip to Spain! The judging panel will include food writers and chefs and contestants will be judged on thickness, flavour, originality of presentation and seasoning.

The Irish Gin & Tonic Fest

Irish Gin and Tonic Festival 2016

Along with amazing beers and world-class whiskies, Ireland is now distilling incredible gins that use the farmed and wild ingredients of their localities to flavour their spirits. Now into its second year, The Irish Gin & Tonic Fest is a 32 county celebration of Ireland’s finest gins. Running in 2017 from June 25th–July 1st, bars and restaurants across the country will offer special festival G&T’S using Irish gins served with a tonic of their choice. Throughout the week the public be asked to vote for their favourite Irish Gin & Tonic of the festival by using the #IrishGnT with bars vying to beat last years winner Davy Mac’s Bar in Waterford

Flavours of South Dublin

Flavours of South Dublin Food Festival will showcase the very best cuisine from the locality, and aims to highlight the diversity and vibrancy of the food culture in the county. The festival will bring together wonderful restaurants, eateries, and suppliers, as well all the different communities living in South Dublin. Taking over Rathfarnham Castle Park on Sunday 25th June, the free festival will also include cultural elements and crafts alongside a range of artisan producers.

Taste of Wicklow

Now in its fifth year, The Taste of Wicklow has become the biggest food festival on the East Coast.As well as a great opportunity for local food producers to showcase their products, there is a great line up of star chefs giving demos and talks inlcuding with Michelin Star Chef Derry Clarke, Merrion Hotel Chef, Paul Kelly and The Druid Chef Rory Morahan plus a host of local culinary heroes including Andy McDaniel (The Bridge Tavern), Tomasz Wrobel (The Lighthouse Restaurant) and Veronica O’Reilly (Healthy Habits). With music and entertainment the festival has something for all the family.
