Galway’s Gastronomy In Full Display At Exciting touRRoir Food Forum

In celebration of Galway and the West of Ireland’s status as the European Region of Gastronomy 2018, Good Food Ireland holds its global forum, touRRoir 2018, on April 23rd and 24th.

The event will be held in the National University of Ireland in Galway. The convention ties in with the designation of Galway as the European Capital of Culture 2020.

The touRRoir 2018 seeks to strengthen ties between the cross dependent sectors of Food, Tourism and Culture. It will discuss how the three sectors can grow businesses and local communities providing a more successful economic future.

Margaret Jeffares, Founder and Managing Director for Good Food Ireland said “Food, Tourism and Culture represent Ireland’s biggest indigenous industries and the relevant collaboration of these sources is essential for unique competitive advantage”

An exciting Hall of Fame Collaborative Gala Dinner will take place on Monday 23rd April. The dinner will join together internationally renowned chefs Killian Crowley of Aniar, Fia Gulliksson and Tarja Silvani.

The acclaimed chefs will design a menu inspired by the landscape of the West of Ireland. Using the finest seasonal and local produce this unique dinner will feature the best Irish producers and artisianal and craft drinks.

The 2018 honourees will be inducted to the Hall of Fame, this recognition is for those whose vision and creativity has had a significant impact on the development of the Food, Tourism and Culture sectors.

TouRRoir 2018’s distinguished honourees are Ballymaloe’s Myrtle Allen, CNN “Culinary Journeys”, Peruvian Chef Gastón Acurio, AFAR Media USA, and Tourism Australia & Partners “Restaurant Australia”.

Myrtle Allen is the first Irish person to receive this prestigious award. The honourees are decided by a global judging panel with past honourees including 3 Michelin starred chef Rene Redzepi, South Korean film maker Lee Wook-Jung and The Catalan Tourism Agency.

Following the Gala Dinner a one day forum and Cultural Reception and Showcase Dinner will go ahead on Tuesday 24th April. Spectators will hear talks from world class experts, keynote speakers and swap experiences from across the Food, Tourism and Culture sectors.
