There’s some great news for Dublin’s luxurious Shelbourne Hotel this week as the property has appointed a new general manager.
With over two decades of hospitality experience, JP Kavanagh will bring his vast experience to the hotel.
His previous experience was gained at London’s Connaught Hotel followed by periods of work at The Hyde Park Hotel in Knightsbridge, The Clarence Hotel in Dublin and the Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire, Scotland.
Following this, he moved to general manager positions at Edinburgh’s Sheraton Grand Hotel, the Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates Hotel, the Kensington Hotel in London and The Westbury in Dublin.
Kavanagh’s most recent posting prior to his appointment at the Shelbourne Hotel, was as general manager of Ireland’s luxury sleeper train, the Belmond Grand Hibernian.
Speaking about his new role, JP commented: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Dublin’s favourite five-star hotel, The Shelbourne. Having the opportunity to lead the team at The Shelbourne – this extraordinary, iconic hotel and national treasure – is something I am very excited about.”
