In the days leading up to Christmas, the season of indulgence and gluttony, the last thing you would think people would be want to hear is about about eating healthily; something that is usually given the cold shoulder until it’s time to forge those predictable New Year resolutions. However, the crowded room in Cooks Academy, on South William Street, on Tuesday the 2nd told a very different story. Everyone was there to hear a new, unique movement in nutrition. With a mission to “Make Healthy Food Sexy”, health consultants My Nutrition engaged, inspired and stimulated attendees about how they can improve their health and well-being. Those who didn’t manage to snap up a ticket don’t despair, this was the first of a series of My Nutrition demonstrations in the pipeline in partnership with TheTaste and Cooks Academy.

My Nutrition is run by charming and dynamic couple Tom Coleman and Jeeny Maltese. Tom is a Nutritionist who has worked with world and Olympic champion athletes, sports teams such as the Irish Rugby team and Sligo Rovers and brand leaders in business. His wealth of knowledge is matched with a lifetime passion for health and fitness, resulting in a presentation style that is as enjoyable as it is educational. What Tom brings to My Nutrition in terms of science, Jeeny, from Venezuela, matches with creativity and flavour. Described as the “latin Nigella Lawson”, Jeeny has a talent for creating dishes bolstered with health and beauty benefits, without sacrificing on taste. Taking inspiration her roots, her recipes are instilled with fresh fruits, salads, fish, avocados and the many other beauty inducing ‘Superfoods’ of the Caribbean coast diet. Combining their talents, expertise and passion they have created an exciting business that has just begun to realise it’s potential.

On the night, the pair demonstrated just how easy it is to create delicious, healthy and sexy food, whipping dishes such as Loin of Pork with Stir Fry Cabbage, Asian Turkey Wraps and Vegan Pad Thai Noodles. Tom also took time away from the stove to share his expertise; providing us with the principles of nutrition, which paired with the simple recipes gave us the tools to begin to make healthy changes. At the end of the demonstration, the audience descended on tables spread with bowls laden with delicious, colourful food. To finish, in keeping with the My Nutrition ethic that by making healthy swaps you can still enjoy your treats, we enjoyed a Vegan Chocolate Mousse Tart and a sparkling glass of Fresh Mojito Lemonade.

While at the start of every year for many it seems like there is a mountain to climb in losing weight and improving health, My Nutrition offers a new approach. Ditching the diet mentality they teach you how to achieve health and weight loss in an enjoyable, delicious and simple way. This is not a diet, this is a lifestyle change with long lasting benefits. Starting on January 19th, the first of My Nutrition’s ‘Lean and Clean Program‘ at Cooks Academy, promises to give attendees the recipes, simple meal plans, expert knowledge and exercise guidelines that they need to lead this healthy lifestyle. Over the course of 3 weeks, Tom and Jeeny will advise you on the types of foods that improve your health, reduce body-fat, build muscle, fuel performance and give you radiant skin. This course will give you the tools you need to you take charge of your health and body, and to prepare healthy food, at a low cost and without the hassle.

When the couple are not captivating audiences with their charisma and cookery, they also share their expertise through Corporate Wellness programmes. My Nutrtion have worked with brand leaders to develop higher productivity with their workforce, which in turn helps to achieve better financial results. One of their most popular modules is where they visit a workplace and demonstrate healthy snacks, desserts and lunches for a quick “Lunch & Learn” session. With his expertise in sports nutrition, Tom also has a lot to offer to those looking to take their fitness to the next level. He has created a unique ‘Muscle Up’ programme, for proof of it’s effectiveness look no further than Tom himself.
