Today, Hennessy has announced a unique collaboration with urban artist Alexandre Farto for their Very Special Limited Series 2018.
Known as Vhils, the Portuguese native is a graffiti artist turned worldwide phenomenon. He has pioneered a new form of urban art through creating sculptures and portraits made from stone, steel, wood and concrete.
Former collaborations include artists such as JonOne, Ryan McGinness, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos and Futura, with Vhils commenting:
“When I discovered the story behind Hennessy I realised that this collaboration was a perfect fit with my art and ideals. I’ve been pushing the boundaries for 10 years, but then I realized that Hennessy’s been doing it for more than 250!”
He added: “Whether it’s about exposing the nature of a city or blending a perfect cognac, for both of us, the essential element is time. You have to wait for it, let it do its job, and then work with the layers time has shaped. There’s no speeding up the process and there’s always an element of risk-taking.”
As the guest artist for this year’s Very Special Limited Edition, Vhils took inspiration from the Hennessy archives and used the iconic hallmarks such as the Three Star emblem to design the bottle.
Emulating Hennessy’s amber hue, Vhils has experimented with paper, acid and heat to create this one of a kind bottle.
Hennessy Very Special has been distilled to exacting standards with a recipe that has been passed down through generations. As one of the world’s most popular cognacs, it has a full-bodied flavour that’s unmistakable.
Each batch is aged for at least two years in French oak casks, giving it an intense and fruity character on the nose with fresh notes of grapes and almond to taste.
Hennessy Very Special Limited Edition 2018 by Vhils 70cl is priced at €36.50 and is available exclusively at Dunnes Stores.
