Do you have an idea for a great craft beer? Have you ever tried to brew your own? Irish pub and brewery J.W. Sweetman is calling all homebrewers willing to accept their challenge. The bar’s Homebrew Challenge & Cask Weekend will take place on October 27th and 28th and contenders will be in with a chance to commercially brew their own craft beer in the Kildare Brewing Company and have it on tap at Sweetman’s.
The winner will also be treated to a Brewmaster Dinner for 2 and a €100 Bar tab voucher at Sweetman’s plus the glory of having his or her name engraved on the Sweetman’s Perpetual Cup.
The second place will get you a Brewmaster Dinner for 2 and a €50 Bar tab voucher at Sweetman’s, and the third place will also earn you a Brewmaster Dinner for 2 plus a €25 Bar tab voucher at Sweetman’s.
The competition is open to all over 18 homebrewers that create a beer of “good drinkable quality” at home, and entries consist on four 330 ml or four 500 ml bottles free of any identifying marks. The styles allowed are Red Ale, Porter and Stout.
The winner will be announced on the Saturday 28th of October at the live judging event.
J.W. Sweetman is known for being a pioneer in microbrewing and it is popular with both locals ans tourists with an interest in craft beer. Among the beers they produce, you’ll find Bavarian Weiss, Dry Irish Stout, West Coast Pale Ale, Irish Red Ale, American Blonde Ale and Dublin Porter.
