October brings crisp evenings and autumnal splendor. Halloween decorations intertwined with the premature sparkle of Christmas ornaments beginning to pop up remind us that this is a season for many a celebration.
It’s also a time to try new things and while the weather’s change seems to lure us into velvety and rich reds, nothing says party like sparkling wine.
Il Grillo di Santa Tresa Spumante is an organic sparkling wine from Sicily, made from a variety named Grillo, which is often used in the Italian island to create sharp and mineral still whites.
In this case, it brings those characteristics to a spumante that offers a fresh and floral nose with a pleasant and energetic army of bubbles.
Crisp and on the high side of acidic, this mouth-watering fizz shares flavours of zesty lime and white flowers.
It’ll be a fine aperitivo or companion for all things shellfish.
Il Grillo di Santa Tresa Spumante is available at O’Briens Wine at €19.95.
