Here’s Where You Can Enjoy Ireland’s Best Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the country’s finest have been showcased at the second annual Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards, celebrating the very best in the hospitality industry.

At a breakfast gathering of a who’s who of Irish food producers and hoteliers at The Intercontinental Dublin, guests and nominees were treated to an all-star feast including Ballinwillin Farm venison sausage, O’Neill’s Dry Cured rashers, Foods of Athenry scones and Kelly’s black pudding as Georgina Campbell and keynote speaker Darina Allen spoke passionately about the art of the Irish breakfast.

With nominees from across the country gathered to hear the winners, Ashford Castle’s breakfast was named Best in the 5 Star Category, Gregan’s Castle in Co. Clare took the 4 Star title and The Greenhills Hotel Conference & Leisure Centre in Limerick took the crown in the 3 Star hotel category. Recognising the growing fondness of the Irish for brunch, Firehouse Bakery in Delgany took the Best Brunch award.

The best breakfast in the Country House category was awarded to Longueville House in Mallow, Co. Cork, while Waterford’s Hanora’s Cottage Country Guesthouse and Restaurant was named best Guesthouse for breakfast. Best B&B breakfast was awarded to Archways B&B in Rosslare, Co. Wexford.

As well as naming the best spots to enjoy a locally sourced and lovingly prepared breakfast, the awards celebrated the fantastic artisan ingredients which make up the perfect full Irish, naming products such as Cuinneog Butter, Kelly’s Puddings, Foods of Athenry baked goods and G’s Gourmet Jams as the best in show.

Whether you’re wondering where to check in to be treated to the breakfast of champions or fancy whipping one up yourself, the awards have shone a light on bucket-list breakfasts across the country.
