Ireland’s Largest Ever Christmas Market I BELIEVE™ Now Open

The I BELIEVE™ Christmas Tree and Market officially opened in Dublin last week, when the 53 foot floating Rockefeller-inspired Christmas tree was lit up with over 20,000 lights. With 56 traders selling 100% Irish food products and 90% Irish craft, I BELIEVE™ runs for 28 days in the lead-up to Christmas until 23rd December at the exceptional setting of Custom House Quarter.

In addition to the market offering, I BELIEVE™ will offer Dublin’s most unique Santa experience, where children can meet the former Clery’s Santa and his elves in their custom-built workshop and hear Christmas stories from Mr. Claus himself. Meanwhile, adults will be able to enjoy a unique Scandinavian lodge experience at the dedicated Aprés Ski pop-up bar, which will accommodate festive gatherings and Christmas parties.

Four year old Hugo Turley from Castleknock, who underwent a kidney transplant last year, is the guest of honour and will help Santa to switch on the Christmas tree lights, declaring I BELIEVE™ officially open for the first time. Santa makes his grand entrance arriving to the venue up the River Liffey in a boat followed by a full Garda escort. Special guests will be joined by a 75 piece marching band and the 500 piece CÓRus Christmas Choir completing the festive scene.

Speaking about the significance of I BELIEVE™ for Dublin, Ardmhéara/Lord Mayor, Críona Ní Dhálaigh, said:

Dublin City Council is proud to be associated with the I BELIEVE™ Christmas festivities this year. I hope this will be the start of a new Dublin Christmas tradition and I’m delighted to turn on the lights of the impressive 50ft Christmas tree, which was home-grown and donated to the people of Dublin by Coillte. The event is extremely accessible, with bus, LUAS and Dart stops right on their doorstep, so I hope lots of people will come down to the Custom House Quarter over the festive period, to enjoy all that’s on offer. Bígí linn le I BELIEVE™ agus taitneamh a bhaint as an ceiliúradh speisialta seo don Nollaig.

With charity at its roots, I BELIEVE™ will become an area for Irish Charities including Temple Street Foundation, Simon Communities Ireland, ISPCC Childline, Barretstown, Inner City Helping Homeless, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, to build awareness and fundraise. The I BELIEVE™ Charitable Fund, chaired by Senator Feargal Quinn, will financially support charities each year.

Set amongst an authentic Irish Christmas market full of charm, visitors to I BELIEVE™ will find high quality, one-off gifts from individual traders and seasonal pop-up shops, including Bord Bia’s Christmas Box Shop, LIDL’s first all Irish produce shop, and Kilkenny Shop’s inaugural pop-up shop. Visitors can also purchase their Christmas trees on-site, from Irish Christmas Tree Growers.
