Ireland’s leading chefs serve up a Taste of home for the Taste of Dublin 2016 Festival launched today

Dublin’s favourite culinary event, the Taste of Dublin festival, sponsored by Electrolux, returns for another year, flying the flag for the finest chefs and restaurants that bring energy to the city’s dining experiences. Taking place from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th June, this 4-day event will celebrate the vibrant and diverse Dublin culinary scene, as well as some the Irish chefs who are making waves abroad with the festival’s special “homecoming” this year.

This June, Taste of Dublin expects to welcome over 30,000 guests across the culinary weekend, with extended opening hours (until 10.30pm Thursday – Saturday) now in place for this year’s event. To celebrate the return of the iconic food festival, Taste of Dublin welcomed home some of its ‘homecoming’ chefs, including Robin Gill, Anna Haugh, Danni Barry and Simon Lamont, for a special visit to Dublin on April 27th.

The full ‘homecoming’ line-up for the festival includes Washington-based Cathal Armstrong, Anna Haugh, Gordon Ramsay’s former Head Chef, the critically acclaimed Robin Gill, US celebrity TV chef Stuart O’Keeffe (“Chef Stuart”) and London-based “Lazy Chef” Simon Lamont.

Taste of Dublin has also announced an exciting partnership with The Open Gate Brewery, the home of experimentation and innovation at St James’ Gate, who have created an exclusive Taste Brew for this year’s festival. Brewers at The Open Gate Brewery have created a small batch special brew ‘Strawberry Porter’ for Taste of Dublin inspired by an Irish summer. The Taste of Dublin ‘Strawberry Porter’ will be available at the Open Gate Brewery for the month of June & visitors to Taste of Dublin Festival will have the opportunity to sample the small batch brew alongside a number of other experimental and new world beers at The Open Gate Brewery experience.

For the first time, the festival will champion the new kids on the block of the Irish food scene with Bunzl McLaughlin backing the Rising Star award, proving that the festival is dedicated to supporting and nurturing new Irish culinary talent.

Visitors will be able to create their own personalised experience menu with a choice of over 12 restaurants each featuring 3 signature tasting plates, visitors can sample the best produce in the world from over 60 exhibitors. Enjoy tips and insights from some of the most talented chefs at home and abroad and experience many of the unique features across the four days.
