Oh Cheezus! Cheese Tea Could be The Next Big Teatime Trend

Cheese and tea are two very popular items in a person’s day-to-day life, but have you ever thought of combining the two together? Is cheese tea really the next big trend?

Cheese Tea has been spreading across Asia and, according to Condé Nast Traveler, has now reached US shores. So it’s likely this cheese-topped drink will make its way to the Emerald Isle sooner rather than later.

So what exactly is cheese tea? Basically, it’s an iced beverage made using a traditional matcha, jasmine or oolong tea, which is then topped with an inch or so of creamy cheese foam.

The flavours of the cheese and tea compliment each other because the creamy cheese tones down the natural bitterness of the tea.

The cheese foam’s thick consistency also gives the unique beverage a similar texture to a milkshake. Intrigued yet?

This cheese tea is just the latest in the world’s never ending list of weird and wonderful food and drink trends sweeping through the world.

And now for the big question, will you be brave enough to try cheese tea when it inevitably makes its way to Ireland?
