Jack Daniel's Celebrates 150th Anniversary with Worldwide Whiskey Barrel Hunt Including Three Irish Cities

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Jack Daniel Distillery – the oldest registered distillery in the U.S. – Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey announced today a worldwide Jack Daniel’s Barrel Hunt and three Irish cities host hunts throughout September 2016: Galway (8th September), Cork (15th September) and Dublin (22nd September).

Handcrafted Jack Daniel’s whiskey barrels will be hidden in historic and cultural sites in Galway, Cork and Dublin, with clues on the Jack Daniel’s Ireland Facebook (facebook.com/jackdanielsireland/) encouraging fans to find hidden whiskey barrels in each location on the day of the Barrel Hunt.

The first Barrel Hunt took place this summer at the home of the distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee on 1st July and after its huge success, the activity will be taken to more than 50 countries in 90 days.

“Jack Daniel’s has grown from a local name in Lynchburg to an iconic brand in more than 170 countries by remaining true to its legacy of authenticity, independence and integrity,” said Mark McCallum, President of Jack Daniel’s. “The 150th anniversary is a major milestone for the distillery and is a perfect opportunity to invite everyone to join us in our celebration of Jack Daniel’s with our first-ever global Barrel Hunt.”

Clues tied to the history of each city will be provided on the day of each Barrel Hunt and barrels will be opened when the first person to arrive gives the correct barrel password. Updates and results will be shared as barrels are found and prizes are claimed in each location.

Each hidden barrel in the scavenger hunt was used to mature Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey before being recrafted for the Barrel Hunt to house prizes, which includes an original, one-of-a-kind bar kit made with white oak from the barrels, and The Woburn, a classically designed speaker system by Marshall. Barrel Hunt winners will also get to keep the authentic Jack Daniel’s barrel, and there will be other top quality prizes for runners-up on the night too.
