Taste The Flavours Of West Cork – The Clonakilty Food Tour Summer Schedule Has Been Released

Author and foodie Kate Ryan of Flavour.ie has just announced the fourth year with her Clonakilty Walking Food Tour.

Kate Ryan is a food writer known for her work “A Taste of West Cork-Artisan Food Guide”. The Clonakilty resident loves to share her passion and knowledge of local food and traditions.

This culinary adventure highlights Clonakilty’s rich histories, traditions and food culture. Curious foodies worldwide flock to the award-winning town to meet the faces behind some of the world’s most beloved products.

Speaking about the Clonakilty Food Tour Kate says,

“it puts people in direct contact with those artisan food makers giving people a real sense of where their food comes from, the stories attached to it, the skills needed to create it and also the history around it. Some of the food producers are multi-generational businesses with hundreds of years of history behind them, all have centuries of skills in their hands to make the food for us to eat. Their stories puts the food we buy and eat in a whole new light!”

This fun filled tour is the perfect place for instrested foodies to meet local producers and suppliers and learn the history and traditions of the people and products. Guests will sample a varitey of tasty treats and visit artisan producers from ice-cream makers, butchers, bakers and more.

Commenting on Cork’s rise as a food destination Kate said:

“West Cork has always been at the forefront of the modern Irish food movement. The quality of Irish food is now recognised globally as progressive whilst still holding on to those skills so deeply rooted in tradition and our breath-taking landscape. This new attention in our food culture is fuelling a curiosity in visitors to Ireland who are keen to learn more and understand what makes our food so special.

Speaking on the growing trend of food tourism Kate says visitors on her Clonakilty Walking Food Tour can expect “to have a truly authentic experience connecting them to the skilled people in the town who dedicate their lives to creating beautiful things for us to eat.”

The tour has been officially approved by Failte Ireland and features on the Wild Atlantic Way’s website and tickets cost €45 per person for an unforgettable tasting experience kicking off at 11am and finishing up at 3pm. Participants can expect to sample an array of delicious food and drink as they get to know one of Ireland’s premier foodie destinations.
