It has been annnounced that Kenneth Murphy has been recently appointed as Executive Head Chef at Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny. The luxury estate is situated on 170 acres of lakes, gardens and woodlands in Kilkenny city. The 17th century house boasts an award winning Oasis Spa, and has recently undergone an extensive three year transformation and refurbishment.
The newly appointed Executive Head Chef brings with him unrivalled knowledge and is sure to be a huge assest to this historic house.
Kenneth began his culinary carerr in Karlsruhe, Germany before he returned to Ireland to work as Chef de Partie at the prestigious Westbury Hotel in Dublin. He then went on to work aboard the Queen Elizabeth II cruise ship.
Kenneth joined Richard Branson’s Virgin Limited Edition Group, where he travelled extensively around the world. With Branson’s company Kenneth first travelled to the five-star Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in South Africa, a luxury holiday resort.
From here, the talented chef went on to another five-star property, the Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco. Further experiencing more of the world, the chef then joined the luxury property group Minor Hotel Group.
Kenneth worked as the Executive Chef within three of Minor Hotel Group’s properties; Avani Atrium Bangkok Hotel, Thailand Desert Island Resort & Spa by Anantara in the UAE and Anantara Resorts and Spa in the Maldives.
Here Kenneth was greatly influenced by world cuisine and this helped to shape his style of cooking. Following his many travles he joined Fota Island Resort in Cork as Executive Head Chef, before joining Lyrath Estate in September 2018.
With him, this accomplished chef brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, as well as unique flavours of worldwide cuisine. Guests and diners at Lyrath Estate can sample Kenneth’s cooking in the fine dining Yew Restaurant or The Grill Restaurant & Bar or Tupper’s Bar.
