Results from a survey conducted by Bord Bia and released today 11th of July showed that almost two thirds (66%) of people in Ireland consider men to be the ones in charge of the BBQ.
The consumer survey coincides with the EU co-funded Lamb – Tasty, Easy, Fun campaign, launched by Irish chef Mark Moriarty, winner of the 2015 San Pellegrino Young Chef of the World Award, which aims to promote lamb as perfect for quick and healthy meals. This survey revealed that barbequed lamb is the favourite lamb mid-week dish for summer (23%), followed by stir-fry’s (13%) and stews (9%).
Speaking at the announcement of the campaign, Chef Mark Moriarty said: “Lamb is a personal favourite of mine – it’s a wonderfully versatile and powerful meal ingredient. There’s a great range of delicious recipes available on www.tastyeasylamb.ie. They are all quick, easy and tasty, both classic dishes and contemporary twists – I’d encourage everyone to have a go!”
Bord Bia has teamed up with six of Ireland’s leading food bloggers for a behind-the-scenes insight into cooking the recipes. Lilly Higgins, Ketty Elisabeth (French Foodie in Dublin), Caroline Hennessy (Bibliocook), Imen McDonnell (Farmette), Aoife Ryan (Babaduck) and Liam Boland (Bia Maith) will write about their experiences cooking a lamb dish on www.tastyeasylamb.ie
Teresa Brophy, Consumer and Trade Marketing Manager at Bord Bia said: “The ‘Lamb – Tasty, Easy, Fun’ campaign is part of our ongoing strategy to highlight the versatility of lamb to Irish consumers. Irish lamb retail sales are worth €102 million and we are seeing a growing trend towards lamb as an ingredient in everyday meals. This campaign aims to reinforce this trend further, and drive increased awareness among Irish consumers of the many ways in which lamb can add variety to our everyday meal repertoire.”
