It offers excellent cuisine with an emphasis on fresh seafood and the finest local ingredients, in a comfortable and stylish setting with huge picture windows making the most of the panoramic views of the spectacular surrounding scenery.

La Fougère Restaurant at Knockranny is renowned for fine dining and the superb quality of its cuisine and wine list. Following on from its National title of ‘Best Hotel Restaurant in Ireland 2010’ at the prestigious Irish Restaurant awards and having received Two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence 2011, La Fougère is celebrating again, having been awarded as the ‘Best Restaurant in Connaught 2011’ at the FOOD&WINE Magazine Awards 2011. While Head Chef Seamus Commons was recognised as the ‘Best Chef in Connaught’ at the same awards and again at the 2012 FOOD&WINE Awards.

With table d’hôte, à la carte and tasting menus to choose from, Knockranny House Hotel & Spa’s team of chefs headed by Mr. Seamus Commons and including the ‘Eurotoques Best Young Chef in Ireland 2012’- Kamil Dubanik (view Kamil’s story below) place high emphasis on fresh seafood and the finest local ingredients. In addition to this he has received a glowing review in the 2011 edition of the ‘Bridgestone Irish Food Guide ‘ and in the 2012 edition of the ‘100 Best Restaurants in Ireland’. Author John McKenna refers to Seamus as “one of the great comtemporary Irish talents, and the good news is that he continues to innovate and continues to get better. The restaurant at Knockranny is an unmissable destination”.

We are also delighted to announce our inclusion in the Michelin Great Britain & Ireland Guide 2012.
We are now in the process of setting up a new section under dining called ‘Chef’s Corner’. This will consist of monthly recipes and tips from Seamus Commons.
