With a bustling food scene emerging having played host to the International Food Truck Festival over the summer, the Treaty city is proud to welcome the WBQA World BBQ Championships this weekend, from the 13th to 15th of October.
Promising fun, food, music and international BBQ flavours to tantalise the taste buds, Limerick will host 100 Fire Chef BBQ Teams from 30 countries, all vying for the grand title of World Champion 2017.
Taking place in the scenic People’s Park in Pery Square, the World BBQ Festival stage will be filled with Artisan Food & Craft Stalls, meaning you can stroll around snacking on some of the amazing produce small Irish producers have to offer, as well as plenty of craft beer, gin and whiskey bars, and of course, loads of BBQ delights.
John Relihan, Holy Smoke Cork’s legendary fire chef, will be doing BBQ Demonstrations throughout the weekend so you can pick up tips for smokey home cooking and there will also be butchery demo and Plancha grill demos to hone your skills.
The ethos of the competition is Fire, Fun, Food and Friendship, so all are welcome to come along and be part of a World BBQ Celebration which is also eco-friendly, with plenty of vegetarian options too.
