Last Saturday 22nd of July, Dandelyan bar in London was named Best Cocktail Bar in the World at the prestigious Spirited Awards, held in New Orleans as part of Tales of the Cocktail, one of today’s most important cocktail festivals, taking the pulse of the global bartending scene since 2002.
Dandelyan opened in 2014 and it’s located at the Mondrian Hotel. The venue also took home awards for Best International Bar Team and Best International Hotel Bar.
Founded by bartender and entrepreneur Ryan Chetiyawardana, this bar has accumulated an impressive number of distinctions in its life, including Best New International Cocktail Bar (2015) and World’s Best Cocktail Menu (2016) at Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. It also won Best Bar Team in London (2016) at the Time Out Bar Awards and secured the 3rd place at World’s 50 Best Bars (2016).
Dandelyan is known for its innovative cocktail menus, including signature mixes and creative interpretations of the classics. Their current cocktail menu is named Vices of Botany and as they explain on their site, it “explores our love of exploitation, escapism and the full spectrum of our guilty pleasures.”
The award-wining menu is divided into four sections: Faith, Lust, Currency and Rock ‘n’ Roll. There’s also a “classics” selection from old menus and a “Booze-less” list for delicious alcohol free sips.
Tom Dixon designed the bar’s stunning interiors, which feature an iconic green marble bar, pink leather banquettes and stunning river views of the Thames.
