This Gorgeous Chardonnay is the Perfect Treat for Fans of Rich and Buttery Whites

Chardonnay’s spirit animal is the chameleon. The variety can go from crisp and fresh to rich and creamy whites (and of course, it’s the backbone of many a Champagne and other world-class bubbly!) and unlike some grapes that might only perform in their comfort terroirs, Chardo can offer high quality in many different regions and adapts to multiple winemaking styles.

If you are into the full bodied and buttery type, Burgundy and California might be on the top of your mind, while Sauvignon Blanc extraordinaire New Zealand might sound like an unusual spot, however, a few producers are experimenting and winning at Premium Chardonnay in this New World country.

This Gorgeous Chardonnay is the Perfect Treat for Fans of Rich and Buttery WhitesMan O’War Valhalla Chardonnay comes from multi award-winning Man O’ War winery in New Zealand’s Waiheke Island and it’s made in the generous style that enthusiasts of the big Chardos of the world know and love: plenty of rest on the lees and perfectly ripe grapes that transform into a wine of pronounced intensity.

Aromas of lemon peel, peach and green apples merge with butter, lemon curd and a pleasant nuttiness to create a wine of full body and a pleasantly wrapping texture.

Named after the golden hall that awaits brave viking warriors in the afterlife in Norse mythology, this is a premium Chardonnay with power and character.

Man O’War Valhalla Chardonnay is available at O’Briens Wine at €26.95 (on offer from €29.45).
