Gin for breakfast may not be as outrageous as you might think this is thanks to Manchester based craft distillery Zymurgorium who has teamed up with the city’s oldest jam-maker Duerr’s to launch a marmalade gin.
The new innovation that merges the favourite breakfast condiment with your afternoon tipple of choice is titled Marmalade of Manchester Gin and according to the distillery’s site this “heroic citrus gin collaboration” will “kick down tonsils and spark some taste buds.”
Commenting on the innovation in the Manchester Evening Times Richard Duerr, sales and marketing director at Duerr’s, said: “We love to see our products used in different and original ways and this is a perfect collaboration. It tastes terrific.”
“We have seen our marmalade used in cocktails in the past, so we knew it mixed well with alcohol. What Zymurgorium have done has taken it to another level. Now people can enjoy Duerr’s Manchester Marmalade from breakfast right through to last orders.”
Not the only way to add a legitimate boozy edge to your breakfast, Tipperary producer Crossogue Preserves already makes a popular Irish Whiskey Marmalade along with a Blackcurrant jam infused with Irish stout, you can also buy Vodka Strawberry and Vodka Jam from County Down based Made with Love, and Hollah Preserves in Armagh sell Chilli Strawberry & Prosecco Jam, along with a Vodka Cranberry Sauce to add some extra ‘sauce’ to your Christmas turkey.
