Mary Berry is Set to Light Up Our Screens Once Again on New BBC Cookery Show

Evenings seemed a little darker when the news broke that everyone’s favourite TV judge Mary Berry would not be appearing on the revamped Great British Bake Off after the shock move from BBC to Channel 4. The queen of baking puns with an aversion to soggy bottoms, Mary brought an inimitable warmth to the extremely popular baking show and is set to return to our screens in a new judging role this year.

BBC announced yesterday that the brand new competitive cookery show Britain’s Best Cook will be the perfect way to fill the void left by GBBO, with Mary taking on the challenge of finding the creme de la creme of British home cooks.

Over eight hour-long episodes, ten contestants will be tasked with demonstrating skill under pressure and showing off dishes with individual flair which also meet the brief of ‘serving the most perfect version of dishes that define modern British home cooking as well as create their special take on well-loved classics.”

Mary will be joined on the new show by popular presenter Claudia Winkleman and commented that “I am never more at home than when I have my judging hat on. This series is going to encourage proper home cooking which I have always championed and I cannot wait to start. Claudia, for me, is the icing on the cake.”

At this stage, no launch date for the new show has been announced and it is understood that BBC are seeking out another judge to join Mary on her quest to hunt out Britain’s Best Cook.
